Marcella LeBeau is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, a Lakota of the Two Kettle Band. She is a World War II Veteran who served the United States Army Nurse Corps and is retired as the Director of Nursing from Indian Health Service, Eagle Butte, SD, after thirty-one years.

“I was overwhelmed by the many women I could have chosen. I looked at Marcella first because that is my sister's name. I was amazed at all the things she had done. I thought it was awesome that she got an Executive Proclamation from SD recognizing October 12th, 2019 as Marcella LeBeau Day.”
